Argos interview guide

Argos is part of the Sainsbury’s group, and many Argos stores are inside Sainsbury’s supermarkets. Store roles cover tills, collection counters, the shop floor and the stock room, mostly part-time.

What Argos values

Argos roles are advertised by Sainsbury’s, which shares the group vision:

  • “The most trusted retailer, where people love to work and shop”

Built by making the most of colleagues’ talent, creativity and diversity.

What to show at your interview

  • Friendly, welcoming service. Adverts say a passion for customer service matters more than experience.
  • That you’re happy in a fast-paced, physical role: lifting, picking and restocking.
  • Confidence with digital tools, like handhelds and order systems.

Questions you might be asked

Every interview is different. These are typical questions for Argos roles, matched to what they say they look for.

  • How would you handle a customer whose order isn’t ready for collection?
  • Tell me about a time you worked well in a fast-paced environment.
  • How comfortable are you using handheld devices or ordering systems?
  • Describe a time you kept calm with a frustrated customer.
  • What shifts are you available for?
