Primark interview guide

Primark is a value fashion retailer with large, very busy stores. Store roles include retail assistants on the shop floor, fitting rooms and tills, and stock and replenishment teams who keep the floor full.

What Primark values

Primark’s careers pages and job adverts name three values, which they say set out the behaviour expected of everyone:

  • Caring

“We always strive to put people first.”

  • Dynamic

“We bravely push the boundaries to stay ahead.”

  • Together

“We learn more, laugh more and achieve more as a team.”

What to show at your interview

  • That you put people first, customers and colleagues alike.
  • That you can keep up with a fast pace and adapt when plans change.
  • Examples of teamwork: covering for someone, sharing the load, helping a new starter.

Questions you might be asked

Every interview is different. These are typical questions for Primark roles, matched to what they say they look for.

  • Tell me about a time you worked as part of a team to get a big job done.
  • How would you keep a busy fitting room or till queue moving?
  • Give an example of when you put someone else first.
  • Describe a time you had to change what you were doing at short notice.
  • What would you do if you saw a colleague being rude to a customer?
